Yvatshun

For the history of these people, see Yvatshun History.

Many areas in Yvatshun are governed by a king under a monarchical system called a kinas.

The capital of Yvabira is Oropstov and has a population of ~152,000.

The capital of Alacas is Alacas, with a population of ~120,000.

The largest city of Huirnon is Ellecil and has a population of ~60,000.

Religions

The most widespread religion is referred to as Yvabiran, which has the same name because it permeates Yvabiran culture. Temples are called hof, and house druid priests, who usually have some influence on kinas leaders.

The far-western end of Yvatshun is home to another religion called Alatia. Alatian priests are called followers, and erect great obelisks in their towns and cities to their pantheon of gods, often with shrines nearby. Alatianism has little influence on the monarchs of eastern Yvatshun.

Magic

The vast majority of mages in Yvatshun have a connection with some sort of spirit and are magimancers. Magificers born with magic are rare, but not as rare as magiturgists, since magic is generally not seen as something to be studied in Yvabira -- Alacas being the general exception. There are no magichaists of note in Yvabira.

Magic mainly involves valeturgy.

Magic is used for religious, restorative, and production purposes.

Economy

These people mostly barter for goods, though larger dominions -- especially to the east -- will often accept coins, or even produce their own coins called rieta.

Luxury trade goods include high quality iron and lumber, while other goods traded include wool, hide, and Yvabiran Green pigment, which is deep green in colour and made from malachite.

Military

Military in Yvatshun is mostly used for defence and enforcement of the law, with protection of the wealthy usually coming down to the nobles themselves, who are always taught to fight.

Longships in this area are very popular. Their slender, swift, lightweight design allows them to navigate the treacherous Gulf of Avsaryn and Batur Sea.

Ranged weapons are mostly javelins, throwing axes, and sometimes artillery. Melee weapons used by soldiers mainly include blades, axes, blunt weapons, and sometimes farming weapons.

The greatest fighters in this area are said to be chosen by the gods, acting as avatars, making them capable of taking on challenges several times larger than themselves. The greatest war heroes also usually tame wild beasts and slay monsters, the latter of which is especially the case in the far east and west of Yvatshun.

Culture

Common forms of entertainment include drugs, festivals, food and drink, hunting, music, and tournaments.

Common artforms include carving, spoken word, woodwind, smithing, woodworking, and leatherworking.

Common cultural practices include druidism, inquisitions, feasts, and warcries.

Common cultural beliefs include family is loosely defined, and people write their own fates.

Building materials used include cob, thatch, timber, stone brick, and slate. Clothing materials used include wool, leather, hide, cotton, and fur.
